Satellite Phones

I just discovered satellite phones. Well, of course I've heard of them before but never really given them a thought until now. Maybe I'll check in to getting one. Not much choice in the way of handsets but that's o.k. These things use satellites to transmit phone signal not cell towers which means coverage is worldwide. No matter where you are anyplace on earth, you'll be able to get a signal as long as you have line of sight to the overhead orbiting satellite. If you're interested, this website will provide some information about Iridium satellite phones, which are in my opinion the best satellite phone system currently in service.

Automatic Watch winders

When I was a teenager I had a self-winding automatic watch. It was a Timex -- not a real high quality watch but one I was quite proud of nonetheless. It stayed wound up as long as I wore it every two or three days, but of course wound down if I didn't. Wish these automatic watch winders had been around back then.

Rotary Phase Converters?

I don't know much about rotary phase converters. A friend of mine who is in to building websites has asked me to look over a bunch of his sites and make suggestions for improvements. So his latest website is about Rotary Phase Converters Looks good to me but perhaps you might want to check it out yourself and email him if you have any comments of your own. You can get the email address by clicking on the contact link on the website.

Is the new Google phone the i-phone killer?

So the big "G" has just released its first smart phone based on it's Android operating system. Some say it might be the i-phone killer, but I've heard that line before. Of course this time it's Google and you know when G enters a market, it's going to play to win. Has many cool features including a 5 megpixel camera. We'll see how it all shakes out...it will sure be interesting the next few months.

On another note, a friend of mine just asked me to look at a website he put up. It's about satellite phone rentals and the website is called satellitephone-rental.com. Basic site providing info about satellite phone rentals and sales. Check it out if you're interested.
